Eastlake 3rd"],"format":["HTML","TEXT","PDF","XML"],"page_count":"12","pub_status":"PROPOSED STANDARD","status":"PROPOSED STANDARD","source":"Multiprotocol Label Switching","abstract":"This document describes procedures for using Bidirectional Forwarding\r\nDetection (BFD) for multipoint networks to detect data plane failures\r\nin point-to-multipoint MPLS Label Switched Paths (LSPs) and Segment\r\nRouting (SR) point-to-multipoint policies with an SR over MPLS\r\n(SR-MPLS) data plane. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, this document updates RFC 8562 by recommending the use\r\nof an IPv6 address from the Dummy IPv6 Prefix address block\r\n100:0:0:1::\/64 and discouraging the use of an IPv4 loopback address\r\nmapped to IPv6. \r\n\r\nIn addition, this document describes the applicability of LSP Ping\r\n(as an in-band solution) and the control plane (as an out-of-band\r\nsolution) to bootstrap a BFD session.
